Three entrepreneurs from Assam are on a mission to change how women experience their periods. Kiriti Birkam Acharjee, Sourav Chakrabarty, and Satyajit Chakraborty, the brains behind Healthfab, have developed reusable period panties. Their goal is to offer comfort while reducing the need for frequent pad changes.
With confidence in their innovation, the trio stepped into the Shark Tank India 4 stage, hoping to disrupt the menstrual hygiene market. They knew their product had potential but were aware of some concerns regarding its design. Their ask was bold, ₹1 crore for 3% equity. This sparked a debate among the sharks, making them hesitate before diving into discussions.
The sharks were drawn in by the founders’ passion and dedication. The entrepreneurs shared their backgrounds and outlined their vision for the brand. Vineeta wanted to understand the product better and asked for a demo on its absorption capacity. Namita found the product impressive but was curious about the possibility of side leaks. Kiriti explained that their panties could absorb up to 30 ml of liquid, making them ideal for extended wear.
Peyush pointed out that similar products were already available in the market. Kiriti countered by saying they had improved the design, offering a cotton-based solution while international brands typically used polyester. The sharks then questioned whether competitors could replicate the product quickly. Kiriti firmly stated, “For Jockey, this would be an SKU, but for us, it’s our brand.”
Namita brought up another crucial point, urinary incontinence. She asked if they had considered designing panties for women struggling with this condition. The team revealed they were already working on a new product for that market. Vineeta noted that while such products exist globally, India lacks options. If Healthfab launched them, they would be pioneers in the country.
Vineeta put forth an offer, ₹50 lakhs for 1.75% equity and another ₹50 lakhs as debt with 9% interest. Peyush wanted to dive deeper into their long-term vision before presenting what he called the “dream deal.” Anupam, impressed by their business acumen, described their entrepreneurial spirit as remarkable and saw them as ‘future global entrepreneurs’. Being impressed with their sales numbers when Anupam Questioned them that why they didn’t come in previous season, the founders revealed that they tried in 3rd season but they were unable to qualify. Aman admired their journey and joined Vineeta’s deal.
Anupam then proposed an even bigger deal, ₹2 crore for 7% equity, with all four sharks coming on board. The founders accepted, sealing a powerful partnership.
Reflecting on their journey and their Shark Tank India 4 experience, Kiriti shared, “We’re not just solving a problem, we’re creating a movement. Our reusable period panty offers comfort, convenience, and sustainability. We see it as a game-changer for women everywhere.” He also emphasized that they weren’t just looking for investors but partners who aligned with their vision. With the right backing, he believed they could take Healthfab to greater heights and positively impact countless lives. Vineeta Singh Humbly folded her hands and stated, “Thank you, bhai, on behalf of all women. You are doing a great job.”
The episode highlighted not just an innovative product but a mission-driven business determined to redefine menstrual hygiene in India.
