After six memorable years, music composer and singer Vishal Dadlani has bid farewell to Indian Idol. In an emotional video posted on Instagram, he revealed that this season marked his final appearance as a judge on the singing reality show. His words, filled with gratitude and warmth, left fans nostalgic as an era officially came to a close.

Vishal’s journey with Indian Idol has been long, heartfelt, and impactful. For six consecutive seasons, he stood on that iconic stage, guiding aspiring singers, offering critiques, and celebrating musical talent from across the country. But the curtain has finally fallen. His decision to step away was rooted in a personal need, freedom. He shared that he can no longer commit six months each year to stay in Mumbai. For him, it’s time to return to the stage, to studio sessions, and to his own music.

In the Instagram post, Vishal shared a clip where he stood with co-judges Shreya Ghoshal and Badshah. A simple text appeared on the screen, “That’s all from me, folks! Six straight seasons later, tonight is my last episode as a judge on Indian Idol. I hope the show will miss me as much as I’ll miss it.”

He expressed deep appreciation for the people he worked with over the years. He named Shreya, Badshah, Aditya Narayan, and several others who had been part of the journey, producers, crew, musicians, technicians. He called the stage “pure love,” and said the show had felt like home.

In the caption, Vishal wrote, “Alvida, yaaro. 6 seasons mein jitna mazaa kiya, uss se bhi zyada yaad aayegi.” He thanked the show for giving him more love than he ever expected and said he’s forever grateful.

He said he wanted his time back. He didn’t want to stay confined to the city for half the year. “I’m literally only leaving because I want my time back. Can’t stay stuck in Mumbai for 6 months each year!” he explained. With that, he announced his return to what he loves most, creating music, performing live, and staying far away from makeup chairs. “It’s #VishalAndSheykhar season!! Jai ho!” he signed off with that classic spark of energy.

He didn’t just thank the big names. He went on to mention even the smallest members of the crew. From cleaning staff to lighting technicians, from photographers to sound mixers, everyone got a mention. He even apologized if he missed anyone. It showed the kind of person he is and so grounded and grateful.

Aditya Narayan, host of Indian Idol 15, responded to the farewell post with heartfelt words. “The end of an era. Indian Idol will never be the same without you, big brother. Grateful for all the great times together.” That sentiment echoed what many fans felt. For years, Vishal had been a steady presence on their screens, offering both tough love and hearty encouragement to contestants.

His time on Indian Idol has left a lasting impact, and though he’s stepping away, the echoes of his laughter, passion, and sharp musical insight will stay on that stage.

An era ends, but the music plays on.
