The popular TV quiz show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 16’ has returned, with Amitabh Bachchan once again taking the helm as the host, challenging contestants with his questions. In the first episode, contestant Utkarsh Bakshi faced a setback after failing to answer the ₹25 lakh question correctly. Now, another contestant has missed out on ₹50 lakh after being unable to answer a critical question.
On the August 15 episode, Amitabh Bachchan welcomed a new contestant, Sudhir Kumar Verma. Sudhir successfully answered questions up to ₹25 lakh and even earned an additional ₹80,000 bonus. However, he got stuck on the ₹50 lakh question, which eventually led him to quit the show.
Which Question Stumped the Contestant?
Amitabh Bachchan asked Sudhir Kumar Verma several questions throughout the show, all of which he answered correctly. But when the ₹50 lakh question was posed, Sudhir was unable to provide an answer. He used his remaining lifeline, “Phone a Friend,” but due to time constraints, he couldn’t get the right answer and decided to quit the show.
The question that stumped Sudhir was: “Which city was included in the 1830 census by Henry Walters, making it one of the first complete censuses of a city in British India?” The options were:
- Mumbai
- Dhaka
- Mysore
- Lahore
Sudhir chose to quit the show instead of risking an incorrect answer. However, when asked what he thought the correct answer was, he guessed Mumbai, which was incorrect. The right answer was Dhaka.
Amitabh Bachchan Praises the Contestant
Sudhir Kumar Verma, hailing from Unnao, Uttar Pradesh, is currently pursuing his DL Ed degree. Despite failing to answer the ₹50 lakh question, he successfully answered 13 other questions. Amitabh Bachchan couldn’t help but praise Sudhir for his performance, commending the education he received and expressing his admiration for the way he handled the other questions.
