Munawar Faruqui has been making waves ever since his triumph in Bigg Boss 17. While he was already well-known in the stand-up comedy scene, his victory in the reality show catapulted him into the limelight, making him a household name. However, after winning Bigg Boss, he once again grabbed attention, but this time, it was for a more personal reason. Munawar tied the knot with Mehzabeen Coatwala in an intimate wedding ceremony. Recently, he opened up about an unexpected health scare that nearly overshadowed his big day.
In a conversation on Sana Khan’s podcast, Munawar reflected on his journey to marriage. He shared that he had always hoped to settle down, and when it finally happened, he felt truly blessed. His joy, however, came with an unexpected hurdle. Just a day before the wedding, he found himself in a hospital bed. He recounted, “I was hospitalized for two days. The doctor came and told me that he will discharge me on Monday or Tuesday.” Noticing the nurse’s reaction, he had a gut feeling about his condition and immediately asked the doctor to speak in private. “I told the doctor, ‘Send her outside,'” he revealed.
The comedian then dropped a surprising revelation that his wedding was the next day. The doctor was taken aback. “I told the doctor that I’m getting married tomorrow. The doctor laughed and said okay,” Munawar recalled. But despite the light-hearted exchange, his condition was far from ideal. He had developed an intestinal infection, which made recovery uncertain. The medical team was reluctant to discharge him, but he was determined to leave the hospital in time for his wedding.
Munawar shared how his health had become a major concern for his loved ones. His condition left everyone wondering whether the wedding would proceed as planned. But against all odds, it did. Even though he was advised not to eat anything, he insisted on being discharged. His resilience paid off, and he made it to the ceremony, making the day even more memorable.
While Munawar’s professional life continues to thrive, his personal life has also been in the spotlight. His wife, Mehzabeen Coatwala, is an accomplished makeup artist who has worked with top celebrities in the entertainment industry. The couple exchanged vows on May 26, 2024, in a private ceremony attended by close family and friends. Their marriage brought together their respective pasts, Mehzabeen has a 10-year-old daughter from a previous relationship, while Munawar is father to a six-year-old son, Mikael, from his former marriage with Jasmine.
Interestingly, reports suggest that actress Hina Khan played a pivotal role in bringing Munawar and Mehzabeen together. While the couple has chosen to keep many details of their relationship private, this connection adds an intriguing element to their love story.
Munawar Faruqui’s journey from being a stand-up comedian to a reality show winner, and now a devoted husband, continues to captivate his fans. His story is one of perseverance, love, and unexpected twists which makes his life just as eventful as the comedy he delivers on stage.
