The conversation began on a humorous note when Kapil admired Rekha’s appearance and she disclosed that she had learned dressing up from her mother and now her age is 70. As the audience cheered, she joked, “Did you hear me properly? I said I am 17 years old.” Her witty remarks and playful banter kept the atmosphere light, leaving Kapil and the audience thoroughly entertained. When Kapil admitted he didn’t understand her reference to a “warped-up sense of humor,” she teased him about his English-speaking skills. Rekha effortlessly referenced Amitabh Bachchan’s famous dialogue, “I know, you can talk English, you can Walk English,” from Namak Halaal, leaving everyone in splits. When Kapil quipped that her English is a bit ‘expensive’ she wittily replied that she is learning expensive Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.

Kapil then shared an anecdote about Sunidhi Chauhan’s song ‘Kaisi yeh paheli’. He said in one of the interviews Sunidhi had disclosed that She didn’t know that the song was going to filming upon Rekha ji. She said if she had known she would have song it more gracefully. He remarked that even singers are intrigued with Rekha ji’s work. As the conversation turned to music, Kapil asked Rekha if she had ever been inspired by a song to enhance her performance. She praised legendary singers like Lata Mangeshkar highlighting dedication and artistry. Rekha shared that in earlier days, singers often connected deeply with the performers they sang for, creating unforgettable collaborations.

Kapil also revealed her talent for mimicking others’ mannerisms, a skill Kapil eagerly encouraged her to demonstrate. he said she can catch the minute details of people’s speaking styles and voice. Rekha spoke about her bond with the late Lata Mangeshkar. She shared a touching memory of expressing her wish to have Lata Didi as her daughter in her next birth. In response, Lata Mangeshkar lovingly told her, “Why the next birth? I am your daughter in this one.” Rekha recalled how Lata Didi began affectionately calling her “Mumma,” a cherished memory that still resonates deeply with her. And she portrayed the voice of Lata Mangeshkar calling her “Mumma”. She said she can still hear the voice.

Kapil, known for his knack for storytelling, shared an amusing anecdote from his time on Kaun Banega Crorepati. He recounted how Amitabh Bachchan had humorously asked his mother, “Kya kha ke paida kiya hai?”  Before Kapil could complete Rekha replied ‘Dal Roti’. Kapil said that’s the exact answer. She said, “Mujhse puchiye na, mujhe ek ek dialogue yaad hai.”

The evening was filled with more laughter as Krushna Abhishek and Sunil Grover impersonated Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, leaving Rekha in fits of laughter.
