The recent terror attack in Pahalgam shook the entire country. People across India expressed their grief and anger over the tragic incident. Social media platforms flooded with messages demanding justice for the victims. Celebrities from television and film also voiced their sadness and condemned the act. Among them, popular TV couple Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim drew unexpected attention.
The reason for this was their visit to Kashmir just hours before the attack took place. Both Dipika and Shoaib had been in the valley for a short vacation and left for Delhi on April 22. Soon after the news of the attack broke, fans grew concerned about their safety. The couple made a post informing everyone they had safely reached Delhi. What followed turned into an unexpected controversy.
Shoaib Ibrahim posted a message on his Instagram story confirming their safety. However, he also mentioned that a new Vlog would be coming soon. That single line invited heavy backlash from netizens. Many accused him of being insensitive for promoting content right after such a tragic event.
In response, the actor addressed the matter in his latest YouTube Vlog. He decided to clarify what actually happened and why the post was made.
In his video, Shoaib explained that they were completely unaware of the full details of the incident while travelling. According to him, the attack happened when their flight was in the air. There was no network available during that time due to restrictions. When they landed in Delhi, they began receiving messages from fans asking about their well-being.
“At that point, we only heard that one or two people had been injured. Based on that, I thought it was best to inform everyone we were safe, and so I posted the story,” Shoaib clarified. He mentioned that his intention was to ease the worries of those who cared about them. There was no intention to appear insensitive or promote content amid tragedy.
The actor admitted that in situations like this, information often reaches people in parts. His family, too, was not fully aware of the gravity of the incident when the post went live. Shoaib mentioned that it wasn’t until later that they understood the extent of the attack.
What also troubled Shoaib was the personal nature of the criticism he and Dipika received. He questioned why the trolling was directed so harshly at them alone. In the same video, Shoaib pointed out that life continued for everyone. He observed that other Vloggers, influencers, and film promotions carried on as usual. Music videos were being released, and people went about their daily routines.
“Even you must be living your life, eating, listening to music, going to work. So why am I being singled out? Why the abuse toward me and Dipika?” Shoaib asked his viewers.
He stressed that while mourning a tragedy is essential, attacking individuals who had no role in the event and were equally shocked serves no purpose. He urged people to be mindful and consider the circumstances before passing harsh judgments.
Shoaib concluded by saying that he and Dipika deeply respect the grief caused by the Pahalgam incident. He extended prayers for the victims and their families, hoping peace would return to the region soon.
