On Monday, March 3, the Supreme Court lifted the ban on The Ranveer Show after Ranveer Allahbadia’s petition. The hearing, however, took an unexpected turn when the bench made a sharp remark about stand-up comedian Samay Raina. The court labeled him “oversmart” while discussing the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent. Both YouTubers have been under scrutiny after BeerBiceps’ controversial remarks on Raina’s show.

During the session, Justice Surya Kant made a pointed observation. Without naming Raina directly, he commented that some young individuals believe they know more than others. He also noted that one of them had traveled to Canada and continued discussing the matter. “These young and oversmart ones think they know more than this… One of them went to Canada and spoke about all this,” he remarked. The reference was clear that Raina is currently on his Samay Raina Unfiltered tour across the United States and Canada.

Solicitor General of India, Tushar Mehta, responded to Justice Kant’s remark, confirming that Raina had indeed made jokes about the proceedings while abroad. Mehta noted that Raina had mocked the legal process during his tour. Justice Kant then warned the YouTubers to act responsibly. “Possibly, they do not know the jurisdiction which this court enjoys,” he stated. He made it clear that their behavior had not gone unnoticed.

His warning carried weight as he firmly told them to be cautious. “Behave, or else we know how to deal with you. We don’t want to because they are young, we understand,” he said. The statement suggested that while the court was willing to be lenient due to their age, there were limits to how much they could push.

For those unfamiliar with the situation, Raina had previously joked about the controversy during his stand-up show in Edmonton, Canada. As he walked onto the stage, he greeted the audience with a remark that immediately set the tone. He thanked them for covering his legal expenses. A fan in attendance later shared his thoughts online, describing how Raina had appeared on stage looking exhausted, with dark circles, a worn-out expression, and an unkempt black hoodie. According to the fan, Raina’s first words into the microphone were, “Thanks for paying my lawyer’s fees.”

Raina did not stop there. He took another dig at Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, using sarcasm to make his point. He told the audience that if they ever found a moment in the show where they expected a good joke but didn’t get one, they should simply think of BeerBiceps. The comment drew laughter, but it also hinted at the tension surrounding the entire controversy.

With the Supreme Court now involved and issuing warnings, the situation has become more serious. While Raina continues his comedy tour, his remarks have reached the highest levels of legal scrutiny. The question now is whether he and others involved will tread more carefully in the future.
