Vivian Dsena has been showered with love and admiration from fans following his stint on Bigg Boss Season 18. Despite being a part of the entertainment industry for years and working on numerous shows, his presence in the reality series has rekindled his popularity. However, his journey to success was far from easy.
In an exclusive conversation he reflected on his initial struggles while auditioning in Aram Nagar, Versova. He pointed out that nearly every actor has a story tied to their struggling days in Aram Nagar. Looking back, he shared that he attended countless auditions, yet faced rejection right at the doorstep.
He recalled moments when casting personnel wouldn’t even let him audition, turning him away instantly. He heard dismissals like “No” and “You don’t fit the bill” repeatedly, sometimes without a single opportunity to showcase his talent. These continuous rejections took a toll on his confidence, but he firmly believes such experiences are crucial. “It is necessary that confidence gets broken,” he stated, stressing that highs and lows are inevitable as life never remains the same.
The actor revealed that during his early days, he faced around 350 to 400 rejections. However, he never considered his struggle to be extraordinary. “I think everyone goes through this. I’m no one special. My story is not unique. Every actor faces this phase at some point,” he remarked. He added that rejection plays a significant role in shaping an actor’s journey.
Vivian also addressed the common misconception that he is arrogant. He explained that this perception largely stems from the intense, brooding roles he has portrayed on-screen. He admitted that people often assumed he carried the same attitude in real life. “I am someone who stays lost in his own world. So people thought, ‘He has a lot of attitude. He considers himself superior,’” he recalled.
Further clarifying, he mentioned that he wasn’t accustomed to forming personal connections and maintained a strictly professional approach. “I was never someone who made an effort to personally connect. For me, work is a responsibility, and that should be the focus,” he explained.
Reflecting on his past roles, he acknowledged that most of the characters he has played had one thing in common and that is anger. “I have done mostly similar roles, so people assumed I must be like that in real life too. They think I talk the way RK did,” he said, referring to his famous role in Madhubala. However, he insisted that he is completely different from the on-screen personas he has portrayed. “Every character I have played had anger as a common trait, but I have always been the opposite,” he revealed.
Vivian has been selective about his projects, which is why his body of work isn’t as extensive as some of his peers. He admitted that he has always been careful about the roles he chooses. Now that he is back in Mumbai, he hinted at exciting developments ahead. “There are some interesting projects lined up,” he shared, signaling his return with fresh work for his fans to look forward to.
