Vivo V80 Launch Today: 7,200mAh Battery and ZEISS Camera Steal the Spotlight

After months of anticipation, Vivo is all set to launch its new Vivo V80 smartphone in India today, October 6. The company is positioning the new V-Series handset around two major attractions — camera performance and long battery life.

Vivo has already confirmed several specifications ahead of the launch, including a massive 7,200mAh battery, ZEISS-powered cameras and support for 4K Cinematic Video.

The official launch event is scheduled for 12 noon as part of the Vivo NEXT 2026 event. The company is also expected to showcase other products during the event.

Vivo V80 Price in India: What to Expect

Vivo has not officially announced the Indian price of the V80 ahead of its launch.

However, leaked information has suggested that the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant could be priced around ₹62,999. Higher-storage variants could potentially be priced closer to the ₹80,000 mark.

The final pricing and available configurations will be confirmed during today’s launch.

7,200mAh Battery Is the Biggest Attraction

The Vivo V80’s enormous battery could be one of its biggest selling points.

According to Vivo, the 7,200mAh battery is the largest ever offered in its V-Series.

The phone also supports 90W FlashCharge, with the company claiming that the battery can reach around 50% charge in approximately 30 minutes.

Vivo claims the phone can deliver:

  • Up to around 14 hours of continuous navigation
  • Up to approximately 39.5 hours of local video playback
  • 90W fast charging
  • 7,200mAh battery capacity

For users who frequently travel, stream videos or spend long hours away from a charger, the large battery could make the V80 particularly attractive.

ZEISS Cameras Could Make Vivo V80 a Camera-Focused Phone

Photography is another major focus of the Vivo V80.

The smartphone features a ZEISS-branded camera system, with Vivo confirming a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700V primary sensor with OIS.

The camera setup is expected to include:

  • 50MP Sony LYTIA 700V main camera
  • OIS support
  • 50MP telephoto camera
  • OIS on the telephoto camera
  • 3x optical zoom
  • 50MP ZEISS selfie camera
  • Autofocus on the front camera

This combination gives the V80 a strong focus on portrait photography, zoom shots and everyday photography.

Shoot 4K Cinematic Videos Directly From the Phone

Vivo is also pushing video capabilities with 4K Cinematic Video support.

The feature is designed for users who want to create more cinematic-looking footage directly from their smartphone.

The phone will also include more than 30 AI-powered creative features, including tools such as AI Diwali Portrait 2.0 and Live Sticker Collage.

These features are aimed at making photo and video editing easier without requiring users to depend entirely on separate third-party applications.

144Hz OLED Display With 5,000-Nit Peak Brightness

The Vivo V80 is expected to feature a 6.59-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a refresh rate of up to 144Hz.

The display is also claimed to reach a local peak brightness of up to 5,000 nits, which could improve visibility when using the phone outdoors.

The high refresh rate should also make scrolling, gaming and animations feel smoother.

Snapdragon Processor Under the Hood

Vivo had not officially revealed the processor name ahead of the launch, but Geekbench-related reports had pointed toward the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.

If confirmed, the chipset would position the V80 as a performance-focused upper-mid-range or premium smartphone.

The combination of the Snapdragon platform, high-refresh-rate display and large battery could make the phone suitable for gaming and demanding everyday workloads.

First V-Series Phone With OriginOS 7

Software is another major change with the Vivo V80.

The smartphone is set to become the first Vivo V-Series device to arrive with OriginOS 7 based on Android 17.

Vivo is also promising up to six years of security updates, which could make the phone more attractive to buyers planning to keep their smartphone for several years.

The handset is also expected to carry IP68 and IP69 ratings, offering protection against dust and water exposure.

Vivo V80 Colours and Availability

The Vivo V80 is expected to be available in three colour options:

  • Stellar Black
  • Horizon Blue
  • Sunrise Anthem

Following the launch, the smartphone is expected to be sold through Vivo’s official website, Amazon, Flipkart and offline retail stores.

Vivo V80: Who Should Consider It?

The V80 appears to be aimed particularly at users who prioritise:

  • Smartphone photography
  • ZEISS camera features
  • Long battery life
  • Fast charging
  • High-refresh-rate displays
  • AI-powered creative tools
  • Long-term software support

Its biggest competition will likely come from other premium smartphones in the ₹60,000-plus segment, where camera quality, performance and software support are major buying factors.

Final Take

The Vivo V80 is shaping up to be an ambitious addition to Vivo’s V-Series, combining a 7,200mAh battery with ZEISS cameras, 4K video recording, a 144Hz OLED display and OriginOS 7.

While the camera system could attract photography enthusiasts, the huge battery may be the phone’s biggest practical advantage for heavy users.

The final India price, variants and complete specifications will become clear once Vivo officially unveils the smartphone today.
