Apple is gearing up to roll out iOS 27, and the Messages app is getting a major AI-powered overhaul. Announced at WWDC, the update is currently in beta testing and is expected to reach all eligible iPhone users by September. Here’s what’s coming.
AI Will Summarize Long Chats
One of the standout features is AI-generated message summaries. Instead of scrolling through long conversations, Siri AI will condense them into short, easy-to-digest summaries, helping users grasp the gist of any chat in seconds.
Smart Suggestions Based on Context
The Messages app will now offer one-tap smart suggestions based on what’s being discussed. If someone mentions a meeting or a plan, you can instantly add it to your calendar. You can also save photos, call numbers, create notes, compose emails, or capture and share pictures – all without leaving the chat. These suggestions will appear below relevant messages or above the keyboard while typing replies.
Siri AI Will Reply in Your Style
Apple is introducing a new AI Reply feature. Siri AI will analyze your past messages to understand your writing tone and style, then draft replies that sound just like you. This makes responding faster while keeping your personal voice intact.
Better Chats with Android Users
iOS 27 also brings support for RCS 2.7, improving the messaging experience between iPhone and Android users. New features include inline replies, emoji reactions, the ability to edit and delete sent messages, and digital drawing sharing.

Drawing Tool and More
Messages is getting a new Drawing Tool that lets users create sketches using pens, markers, and highlighters. You can also add text, stickers, shapes, and digital signatures to your creations.
Other additions include a sending progress bar that shows how much of a file has been delivered, and an option to disable the Speech-to-Text button in the app settings.
When Will It Arrive?
iOS 27 is currently in beta for registered developers and public beta testers. The stable version is expected to roll out to all compatible iPhone users in September 2026. Once available, users can explore a whole new set of AI-driven features in the Messages app.
